              Magnet is a proud partner of the Northwest Coordinated Learning Access Network (CLAN). Together, we are building bridges to employment and education for members of the Indigenous community.Magnet and CLAN are excited to present you with the stories of inspiring Indigenous leaders from across Ontario, in our video series titled “Through Perseverance, The Stories Of Greatness.”

              Erikson Owen

              Erickson Owen is a young man from Poplar Hill First Nation, Ontario, Canada. He recently graduated from Pelican Falls High School in Sioux Lookout where he gained national attention for attaining a 100% average. Ericson’s story is one that speaks to the dedication required to break barriers and achieve ones potential.

              Brianna Decontie

              Brianna Decontie is an Indigenous woman from the community of Kitigan Zibi Anishinabeg, Quebec and is currently a student in the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program at Lakehead University. Brianna hopes that upon graduation she will be able to give back to her community.

              Stephanie Seymour

              Stephanie Seymor is an Indigenous woman from the community of Garden River First Nation by Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. She is currently a PhD student in Forest Sciences at Lakehead University and stems from a family that collectively has 42 certificates, degrees and diplomas. With her family coming from a forestry and natural resources background, and inspired by her Indigenous heritage, Stephanie’s passion in Forestry is her bridge to her education and the Indigenous community. She hopes to employ her education and knowledge in a leadership role that allows her to give back to society.

              Michael Etherington

              Michael Etherington is the Cultural Program Manager at the Native Canadian Centre of Toronto. Michael teaches traditions that can be carried forward by Indigenous youth in new urban environments. Michael has delivered presentations on local, provincial, and national stages that focus on issues in the Indigenous community and the resources needed by youth for success. In this video Michael emphasizes the role community organizations such as CLAN and Magnet play in helping Indigenous youth build foundations in new communities.
