Supporting the transition of students and recent graduates into New Brunswick’s workforce through work-integrated learning opportunities with local employers.

              About

Future NB’s goal is to position New Brunswick as a place where students and employers can connect through experiential learning opportunities, thereby increasing the number of skilled graduates who transition into the province’s workforce.

As a national delivery partner for the Student Work Placement Program (SWPP), Magnet and Future NB work together to connect the latter’s network of employers to wage subsidy funding, helping them  hire students from post-secondary institutions within New Brunswick.

              Solution

Magnet provides Future NB with an exclusive portal where employers in their network could access Outcome Campus Connect to hire students from New Brunswick and beyond, thereby attracting student talent to the province and helping employers build talent pipelines.

If  aNew Brunswick employer has already hired a student from one of Future NB’s partner colleges, Magnet supports the employer in completing a SWPP application to access wage subsidy funding.

              Strategic Alignment/Impact

Magnet’s partnership with Future NB launched in 2020, a time when the COVID-19 pandemic significantly changed Canada’s social and economic landscape by impacting hiring capacity, operations, and business growth opportunities.

In Magnet’s role as a SWPP delivery partner , we are in a position to provide employers in New Brunswick with the funding and tools they need to recruit and retain youth talent over the long-term.

Magnet’s technology provided beneficial outcomes for employers and students by bridging the gap between employers and post-secondary students across New Brunswick post-secondary institutions. Through the Magnet platform, employers can access Outcome Campus Connect to post jobs and directly target students at specific schools within the province, and receive the SWPP wage subsidy. Students earned valuable income when they were hired for paid work-integrated learning placements.

When employers connect to the Magnet platform as part of this partnership, they are also able to connect with job seekers across the broader Magnet network, and access support available through other Powered by Magnet projects.
