The DIAL initiative offers digital upskilling courses and collaborates with Magnet to help employers hire digitally skilled talent.

              About

The Digital Innovation and Leadership (DIAL) initiative was founded at Simon Fraser University’s Beedie School of Business. DIAL provides access to short-term upskilling courses with a focus on digital adoption, and skills for both job seekers and senior leaders.

DIAL targets participation from individuals and employers interested in increasing their digital capacity and skills. Magnet provided a meeting point where employers and leaders who have completed DIAL courses and are implementing digital transformation projects can hire individuals who have graduated from other program streams.

              Solution

Magnet provides a dedicated landing page where DIAL participants can access the platform to receive updates from the Beedie School of Business, and access wage subsidy funding and hiring tools.

Users receive job alerts from employers in the program, as well as those across the Magnet network. Employers can target job postings to individuals within the DIAL community or use Magnet’s matching tools to target job seekers across Canada.

In addition, Magnet’s integration of Outcome Campus Connect allows employers to hire student talent and access wage subsidy funding through the Student Work Placement Program (SWPP) or the Boost Your Business Technology grant.

              Strategic Alignment/Impact

Magnet’s technology provides a means for stacking DIAL’s benefits  on top of additional tools and programs. For example, organizational leaders can use DIAL training to initiate digital transformation projects for their organizations. Through the Magnet platform, those organizations are able to hire youth  by applying for the Boost Your Business Technology grant, which incentivizes hiring youth talent to support digital adoption efforts. As a result, businesses can boost their digital capacity and become more competitive, and students can benefit from hands-on training.
