Campus Connect bridges the gap between Canadian businesses and youth, making it easier for employers to hire student talent.
Developed in partnership with Orbis Communications/Symplicity, Campus Connect is a collection of technology tools that make it easier and more efficient for Canadian employers to recruit students for job opportunities and work-integrated learning placements.
Additional components have been developed and deployed to connect employers and student hires with government-funded wage subsidies, creating a greater incentive for employers to hire students.
Magnet, Orbis/Symplicity, and WhoPlusYou have collaborated to support three key functionalities that enable easier connections between businesses and the post-secondary job market, driving greater uptake of government-funded training and business-growth initiatives.
Outcome Campus Connect: Outcome Campus Connect enables employers to create a single job posting to reach students at more than 125 Canadian post-secondary institutions. Employers can target students based on region, institution, or field of study.
Outcome Adjudicator: Within the same system architecture, employers can determine their eligibility and apply for funding programs offered by governments and sector councils. After hiring an eligible student, employers can apply for funding through programs such as the Student Work Placement Program (SWPP) , I-WIL, the Canada Digital Adoption Program, and industry-led initiatives including EMC WILWorks within the platform.
Magnet and Orbis support program delivery partners by developing customized application processes and forms tailored to each program. This allows delivery partners to efficiently assess eligibility, manage communications with applicants, and distribute funding.
Reporting: The Outcome Adjudicator’s integrated reporting and data visualization tools allow partners to illustrate important program outcomes, such as uptake across different provinces and regions. Reporting functionality eliminates the potential delay caused by paper-based reporting and allows delivery partners and governments to act quickly on opportunities or react to program challenges.
Outcome Campus Connect addresses a series of important gaps within Canada’s workforce development ecosystem, including:
As Canada’s labour force goes through significant demographic change, proactively recruiting youth talent is essential for businesses and Canada’s economy. Outcome Campus Connect gives employers the tools to quickly and easily hire student talent, and access funding support.
As governments make significant investments in work-integrated learning initiatives like the Student Work Placement Program (SWPP), technology is needed to ease the deployment of these programs by offering a bridge between employers and student talent.
As of 2022, 16 national SWPP delivery partners used Outcome Campus Connect to deliver required reporting to Employment and Social Development Canada, resulting in streamlined and real-time data for funding recipients, industry associations, and the federal government.
