Work in Manitoba is a digital hub that bridges the gap between job seekers and Manitoba-based employers.

              About

Work in Manitoba establishes a network of stakeholders across Manitoba, including employers, job seekers, and service providers. Job seekers can engage with the project through different entry points (international and domestic job seekers each have dedicated portals). Regardless of where they enter, job seekers are able to view resources and work opportunities from employers across Manitoba, as well as information from other partners sharing opportunities within the province.

Administered and led by Economic Development Winnipeg (EDW) and supported by Magnet, Work in Manitoba will:

              • Drive economic growth through automatic matching tools that help employers find suitable job seekers
              • Help gather data on employer demands and job seeker skills to better informs policy development and economic decision-making

              Solution

Magnet supports the Work in Manitoba project by providing:

              • Designated communities for Manitoba employers, local job seekers, and international job seekers
              • Reports on labour supply and demand trends through Magnet’s Community Insights Dashboards
              • Labour Market Information to keep sector and community partners up to date on recent data
              • A job feed for frontline service providers in Manitoba Employment Assistance Services
              • Targeted communication tools that allow EDW to promote new opportunities to both job seekers and employers

              Strategic Alignment/Impact

Many jobs in Manitoba are unfilled because of labour shortages, leaving Manitoba businesses without the talent and workforce they need to grow.

When employers try to hire, they are overwhelmed by a large number of talent sources. Employment agencies, post-secondary institutions, and community partners are distinct elements of a fragmented ecosystem, making it difficult for companies to identify talent and meet labour market needs.

Magnet’s digital infrastructure is designed to enable collaboration and advance mutual goals rather than compete with existing stakeholders. This approach presents a way to connect existing efforts to promote job opportunities in Manitoba. Additional Magnet capabilities enhance these efforts by enabling strategic data collection and reporting to help shape future policy and programs.

Work in Manitoba is an example of Magnet’s commitment and capacity to deliver technology solutions that connect stakeholders across a region to support better labour market outcomes. In the case of Work in Manitoba, organizations serving different communities are equipped with their own portal for users to access the Magnet platform. These entry points are connected through a network that allows different partners to post jobs, event notifications, and program information that can be seen by job seekers across all of the connected communities.

Magnet’s technology played a pivotal role in overcoming fragmentation between stakeholders in Manitoba’s employment system, and bolstered visibility of key information to advance regional economic priorities.
