ALiGN connects newcomer job seekers with in-demand roles using psychometric assessments, enhancing recruitment by focusing on personality fit. It diversifies workforces, provides career insights, and opens up new opportunities.

              About

ALiGN uses psychometric assessments to help newcomer job seekers demonstrate their fitness for in-demand roles based on personality characteristics. The project also offers employers an innovative means of diversifying their workforce and expanding their recruitment pool by hiring talent based on fit rather than strictly skills or qualifications.

              Solution

Ten employment service providers across Canada were provided with a landing page and trained on using the Lumina Learning ALiGN assessment. In conjunction with other programs delivered by partners, clients accessed and completed the Lumina Learning assessment through the partner’s landing page.

Employment service provider partners included COSTI, YMCA GTA, YMCA Hamilton, ACCES Employment, SUCCESS BC, Saint John Newcomer Resource Centre, WIL London, Ottawa Community Immigrant Services, and Unemployed Help Centre of Windsor.

Upon completion, participants received a fit score that demonstrated their potential for benchmarked roles. Employers looking to fill those roles could target job seekers on the platform based on their fit score.

In addition to the fit score, the assessment also provides insights into personal strengths and potential areas for development, making it a valuable tool for career counseling and guidance.

              Strategic Alignment/Impact

ALiGN IRCC was an opportunity for Magnet to test innovations with settlement service agencies, evaluating the barriers to adoption and integration of a digital tool inside of employment/settlement agencies.

The Lumina assessment offered value to newcomer job seekers through helping them to identify their strengths and speak to them in the job search process. The matched roles helped newcomers consider new career possibilities.
