Empowering recent graduates to take control of their career with digital skills training and assessment tools.

              About

Led by the Diversity Institute at Toronto Metropolitan University, ADaPT addresses the gap between employer needs and graduate skills by providing training tailored to key digital skills.

Students and recent graduates have the opportunity to complete 70+ hours of intensive, no-cost in-demand skills training delivered through professional and digital skills workshops.

              Solution

As part of their ADaPT training, participants also complete the Lumina Spark personality assessment, which was offered through integration within Magnet. The results supplement the ADaPT learning experience with additional insights into each participant’s work-style preferences, personality characteristics, and competencies. These insights are used by instructors and other career service professionals to provide career-planning support.

Finally, the Spark Assessment includes a fit score for in-demand roles across multiple industries. Employers on the Magnet platform can post jobs and identify talent based on a candidate’s fit score, allowing them to recruit job seekers without relying on traditional qualifications.

Through the Magnet platform, program participants also have access to job matching tools and additional resources to help launch their career.

              Strategic Alignment/Impact

As Canada undergoes demographic change, employers need to reach beyond traditional skills and qualifications in their recruitment efforts.

Magnet offers a solution in which job seekers from underrepresented groups could identify potential career paths based on their Lumina Spark Assessment and access opportunities for relevant training and program-facilitated work placements. Job seekers, especially those facing barriers, are able to leverage Magnet’s technology to demonstrate their aptitude to employers and establish pathways to in-demand roles.

With its capacity to develop a customized digital infrastructure that combines job searching, learning tools, and assessments, Magnet provides ADaPT participants with a seamless experience in which they gain important career insights by completing the Lumina Spark Assessment, complete program training, and transition into job placements.
